Chun Chun's Comeback
With support from the "Green Feet 18" full sponsorship programme for children, Chun Chun took a trial class in August 2023 and started learning karate in January 2024.
Chun Chun is an optimist by nature, always smiling. But that genuine smile clashed with the focus karate demands — at his grading in August 2026 he was still smiling, and the examiner thought he was not taking it seriously. He failed his brown belt grading.
Disappointed and frustrated, he did not give up. Within just one month, Chun Chun gritted his teeth, turned every bit of frustration into sweat, and trained as hard as he could.
One month later, in September 2026, at the "Hong Kong Karatedo Youth Games" (organised by the Karatedo Federation of Hong Kong, China), Chun Chun stood on the podium — 3rd place in the junior kata 12-year-old division. From falling down to standing on the podium, it took him just one month.
This is exactly what karate teaches children: falling down is not scary — what is scary is not daring to get back up. Chun Chun did it.
