Coach Li Chi Kong wins team kata bronze — Hong Kong's first-ever Asian Games team kata medal
History made! Lau's Karate Senior Coach Li Chi Kong, together with teammates 洪晧崴 and 鄧宇軒, represented Hong Kong in the men's team kata at the 20th Asian Games Nagoya and won bronze — Hong Kong's first-ever Asian Games medal in team kata.
In team kata, three athletes perform a kata in perfect synchrony, demanding precise coordination and unity. Teams also perform a "Bunkai" section, a series of attacking and defensive moves showing how the kata applies in real combat. Team member 洪晧崴 also won bronze in the men's individual kata.
The Hong Kong team lost to defending National Games champions Macau in the quarter-finals and dropped into the bronze medal match. Regrouping, they performed "Anan" against Chinese Taipei and narrowly won 3–2 to claim bronze, writing a new chapter for Hong Kong sport.
All coaches and students at Lau's Karate congratulate Coach Li Chi Kong and his teammates and look forward to even greater achievements.
