Coach Grace Lau wins silver at the Nagoya Asian Games — Hong Kong's first medal of the Games
Lau's Karate Technical Adviser and world No. 1 Coach Grace Lau Mo Sheung lost 0–5 to Japan's home favourite Ono (尾野真步) in the women's individual kata final at the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games, taking silver — the Hong Kong delegation's first medal of these Asian Games.
In the final, Coach Lau performed "Chatanyara Kushanku" against Ono's "Suparinpei". After the match she said: "After winning the world title last year, I thought about it for three weeks. When I decided to compete at these Asian Games, I was already prepared for this, but I believe the spirit of an athlete is to try even when you know it will be a hard fight."
Coach Lau has held the world No. 1 ranking in women's individual kata since January 2024. Over the past two years she has swept the Asian Championships, World Championships and World Games, and won back-to-back Karate 1 Premier League titles. She took bronze at the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, and has gone one step further this time with silver.
All coaches and students at Lau's Karate congratulate Coach Lau and look forward to even greater achievements.
